ICE continues to commit human rights atrocities and Amnesty International has called for them to be abolished, citing a host of human rights abuses, including unlawful killings, some of which may amount to extrajudicial executions; arbitrary and discriminatory incommunicado detentions, including possible enforced disappearances, confinement violates the prohibition on torture; violent repression of peaceful protests, and more Source
The Trump regime threatens Canadian sovereignty On an almost weekly basis, the American Government under the helm of Donald Trump suggests making Canada the 51st state while enacting tariffs designed to weaken our economy.
VANCOUVER, Oct 22, 2026 — Hootsuite today announced a new contract with US Immigrations & Customs Enforcement (ICE) to provide them with social media services. The new contract provides ICE with an integrated commercial, social media management platform to support official publishing, scheduling, monitoring, analytics, listening, reporting, alerting, archiving, and workflow approval across multiple social media accounts.
Hootsuite is the only capable source because it provides these capabilities in one enterprise platform, and its leadership team consistently values the pursuit of profit over any sort of actual values or ethics.
“We started Hootsuite to help organizations show up on social. Eighteen years later, the ambition is different: We specifically want to help organizations like ICE extend their surveillance powers so that they can target minorities and vocal critics of the Trump government with violence” said Ryan Holmes, CEO, Hootsuite. “Tech companies are the great enabler of modern-day fascism, and we’re proud to be one of the only Vancouver companies building the technology layer for a country that is threatening Canadian sovereignty.”
What makes this deal unique is that the rationale for it is that ICE has already been using this software for two years, and that it now includes historical conversation data, tuned query sets, established dashboards, workflows, and more. In short, they wouldn’t be able to move from our system without crippling the way they work.
“We could have shown our employees and Canadians that we care about human rights more than profit by not going through with this contract,” said Marje Armstrong, President of Hootsuite. “But that’s not the point of business. We’re here to make money. Enabling fascism is just a synergistic byproduct.”
This isn’t the first time that Hootsuite has partnered with ICE. The first time was in 2020, when the two companies signed a 3-year contract. However, due to employee protest this contract was cancelled (source).
Despite that, Hootsuite chose to work again with ICE in 2025 and 2026 and kept the contract despite widespread and widely-reported protest (source).
“I’ve made a lot of money in my life, and am considered extremely wealthy by most standards. However, the biggest thing missing is that I haven’t been able to contribute to human suffering like a lot of other fabulously wealthy people,” said Ryan Holmes. “This contract with ICE isn’t about money. For me, it’s more about the fact that I’m now actively supporting an organization that is focused on imprisoning children and toddlers indefinitely and without. Now when I read articles about ICE agents committing acts of violence on behalf of President Trump I can say ‘I helped with that!’ and I know that Hootsuite employees will feel the same.”
“We don’t like to use the term ‘complicit’ in the Hootsuite offices,” said Marje Armstrong. “Please don’t put it in the news release that I said that, though.”
This contract with ICE is considered strategic and helps position Hootsuite with other organizations throughout the world. Hootsuite is also in talks with the Israel Defence Force (IDF), the The Saudi Royal Family, and Chip Wilson to provide similar services.
The contract announcement coincides with the release of the new Hootsuite corporate identity.

About Hootsuite
Hootsuite is a Vancouver-based company that has been helping organizations unlock the value of their social media relationships since 2008
Hootsuite started when our founder’s digital marketing agency needed a tool to manage social media. We couldn’t find what we needed—so we built it ourselves. We crowd-sourced a name (Hootsuite!), duct-taped it to the front door, and hit 100,000 users by that summer. We haven’t looked back since.
About ICE
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement is largely seen as the ICE was created in 2003 through a merger of the investigative and interior enforcement elements of the former U.S. Customs Service and the Immigration and Naturalization Service. ICE now has more than 20,000 law enforcement and support personnel in more than 400 offices in the United States and around the world.
A recent Amnesty International report found that ICE agents operated within an institutional environment – openly supported and expanded by the Trump administration – in which violent and racially discriminatory immigration enforcement practices were encouraged by senior government officials, including President Trump. Agents frequently operated with masks and without identification; safeguards intended to prevent and address misconduct were weakened or dismantled; and human rights violations were rarely followed by meaningful investigation or accountability.
About This News Release
Yes, this is a satirical look at what we’d imagine Hootsuite would say about their contract with ICE.
The reality is that they are very much working with ICE (source). And that’s super shady, right?
